How feasible is it to use "Ruby" language to write the model (not rendering engine) for a video game? I know Ruby is much slower than C++ and even Java for most operations, but I've fallen in love with the language, and would like to write at least a game's model code (game logic) in Ruby, and perhaps use an existing engine for rendering. I was wondering if I should just stay away from this idea altogether because of the poor benchmarks I've seen for things like recursion.

Is there another web browser which works in Linux, but uses the IE7 rendering engine? And not IEs4Linux's beta that uses the IE6 UI with the IE7 rendering engine for WINE...I tried that one, fails downloading the exe from Microsoft. I need IE for the rendering engine for web design.

How to fix the webkit rendering engine in Safari and Chrome? About a month ago safari and chrome went from being my fastest browsers to the slowest. It once took under a second to open google.com now it takes over 20 seconds. I have isolated the problem to my computer has done something to the browsers rendering engine called webkit. I tried other browsers using webkit and got the same problem. I also tried other browsers such as lunascape, flock, and mozilla firefox who all use the Gecko rendering engine and the speeds are unchanged. Can you use RPCs when rendering with Vray? I have recently switched from the scanline renderer in MAX 8 to using Vray as my render engine. I always use people in the images, and my preferred method is RPCs. I cannot get these to render using Vray. Is it me, or is it the technology? Where do I find a body for my engine? I've been using a certain mechanic for over a year (and we've had so many problems that, trust me, they know us well). My husband wrecked his 1994 Honda Accord in September, rendering it not drivable but leaving the engine intact. Our mechanic volunteered to find a body to put my husband's engine in. We gave him the money when he found one, but now he's not doing anything. He won't go get the body and says he can't get in touch with the guy selling it so we can sign the bill of sale and get a titel. That was almost 5 months ago! When installing a program on windows vista it says the program location is not a valid directory.? I tried using the default location chosen then I tried choosing my own. It says C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp6\Plugins\ is not a valid directory. It will not let me continue installation because of this. Why is the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor so popularly used even though it is so slow? The newer Crown Victoria Police Interceptor has a 250 hp V-8 engine and accelerates 0-60 mph in nearly 9 seconds...8.75 seconds to be exact. Meanwhile, a V-6 Toyota Camry goes 0-60 in only 5.9 seconds. I know there is a weight difference between these two vehicles, but clearly using a different engine would make it a non-issue. Why are the Police Interceptors outfitted with such small V-8 engines that render such slow acceleration?

Why don't passenger planes have a backup battery for cockpit? The cockpit is powered by energy made from the engines right? Recommended game engine? I've used Multimedia Fusion, Allegro (a library for C++), Actionscript 3, and RPG Maker. My favorite so far has been Allegro for its potential; you can make anything you want. But it has several hangups. I won't go into detail because it doesn't matter. I'm simply looking to broaden my horizons and perhaps find a new medium in which to make a game. A C++ library would be nice, or a precompiled game engine like RPG maker that features more versatility - for example, RPG maker renders it quite difficult to make a custom combat system without learning Ruby, a programming language known by a grand total of three people. I'm looking to make something simple, a platformer, a multidirectional shooter, an RPG. Nothing 3D, at least not yet. Any thoughts?

WHICH ENGINE DO I WANT? I've got myself a project car. The shell is in awesome shape, engine is in working order, but totally gutto. Am going to perform heart surgery on the old chestnut, to give it some life. Which engine am I after? The car is a 99 Honda Civic CXi (Australia), currently with some D16Y8 or something like that. It's obviously a front wheel drive, so I think (??) that renders the F20C useless/too hard. I want something with bucket loads of ponies, but not heavy - I do want to be able to turn the car, and not have to drive in a straight line. Have considered the H22A but have heard these are massive engines? Am also considering a B18 or K20. But I was also thinking that maybe keeping with the 1.6L theme of the car, that it would make things a whole lot easier. So maybe a B16A or B16B (yes I can get my hands on one!) Multi valve engine advantages? Need some info. Ok, four valves per cylinder is better than two valves per cylinder. Fine, why did Ford REVERT to only 3 valves (my guess is to save cost SOHC)? Audi and VW are using five valves per cylinder on some cars, does this offer any advantage over a four valve engine? Maserati even experimented with a six valve per cylinder!!!! How can I impede, crash, or otherwise interrupt a malicious webpage with my full name in the address? I had a business issue with an individual whom decided to basically extort from me a non-refundable deposit for a construction job, by creating a webpage with my name in the address. When my name is entered into a search engine like Google, this site is listed almost immediately. I did pay the person what he asked and in return, he promised to delete the page. After getting paid however, he posts that I paid on the page, and out of spite, keeps the page up. There are also some disjointed, albeit false comments posted from other entities. If my family or friends, or business associates see this piece of crap page, it could prove to be quite embarrassing. What are my recourses? Any tips for removing an engine? I'm a girl, for starters and this is my first. The truck is a 93 ford f250 extended cab with a 351. I have a garage and engine hoist, tools and a book to sorta guide me. Now I need advice and tips. Ya know, the little things that won't render my arms useless by amputation. Car Radio emits high pitched noise that corresponds with the rev of the engine.? I recently got a new radio installed in my car. Now, whenever I rev my engine and the radio is on, amidst the music is a high pitched noise that's coming from the speakers. If I turn off the radio unit, the noise stops. It seems to correspond in frequency as my car changes gears. Is there any way to fix this? It's pretty annoying. I just installed this radio, I don't want to have to remove it and render it useless or whatnot. How do you produce HD images? Say you have a directX graphics engine(or actually library / renderer) so you can produce very cool images in Directx(or opengl for that matter) for example HD images, now i don't actually know how directx does it, but i know images, meshes etc can be rendered to look very detailed and cool. Will Crysis 2 melt PCs, or will Crytek optimize the engine for low end PCs? Crysis is by far my favorite first person shooter ever. Best graphics, crazy cool explosions, and the last 3 levels are by far the most epic levels I've ever seen. I ran it on a Intel Core Dou 2 @ 2.66GHz on a 9800GTX+ 512MB GPU and with 2GB of DDR2 RAM. I was able to run it at 1024x768 res on ALL very high at 35-40 fps. However Crysis Warhead changed all that, Cryteks stupid mistake of making the game use no less then 254MB of VRAM for rendering made me studder all the way through, and i was forced to play on ALL very high with objects turned down to high and textures on meduim :( Will this be the case for Crysis 2?

Can't install downloaded files? Every file I download is corrupt? I have tried many files from many sites, and every one I download is corrupt. I can't even put add-ons to firefox, update java, flash, or even do windows update. Any ideas. Also, every once in a while, when I go to a web page, it will just show a lot of the html, and pics aren't downloading. For all the people that are just going to jump on and say virus, I don't think that it is a virus b/c this also doesn't work on a laptop that I do not use on the internet. I very rarely use it at all. But, I have downloaded many things on it with the same problems. This leads me to believe it is an ISP problem, although I don't rule out viruses, I just don't know how it would have gotten onto the laptop. I also tried it on a brand new out of the box computer and it still would not work. I am trying here first b/c ISP always say it isn't their fault even if it is. I didn't get a channel for months on TV and they said it wasn't their fault. Then, I lost everything. They came out and fixed it. The problem was at the main line before it even got to my house. Then, by some miracle, I got all my channels back including my missing one. Some coincidence huh! Also, many of the errors I get involve a problem with the self-extraction according to the error message, and when I check my yahoo mail, it tells me I need to clean my cache every time I go there if I am using the "new" version, but the "classic" version works fine. Also can not watch youtube vids through firefox, but can switch the rendering engine to IE or actually load in IE and the vids work fine.

What does a Newton refer to? How "much" is it? Can you provide a real-life, easily understandable comparison (i.e., standing in front of a fully-loaded tractor-trailer doing about 65 mph)?

my deisel turbo engine wont stop blowing white smoke ? Wile doing a small skid around a rounderbout with very little oil in my moter my turbo started to whistle like a police siren this was quite a cool noise ... my turbo boost light does not show any more and is sluggish . a few days later i put some oil in and white smoke embarrasingly is now pooring out my exsaust (i dumped the magority of my oil out and helped alittle enogh to still go to the supermarket when needed . im heading camping at xmas and i need the van so .. i thort to shut the oil off by plugging the lines (i descovered its not oil but coolant cooled ) so i removed the inlet and outlet and pluged the lines) (monkey i no) im a poor student...well then i toped back up with oil and went for a drive .... stll smoking i dont understand i gather it must be the head gasket but would this cause the turbo to whine and no longer boost.... also my oil is not milky... what am i missing i dont care to render the van mechanically unfit i just wont to drive 40 mins up the road without covering the road with smoke ..its not black or blue its white and poors out especially when idling it also smells real bad and doesnt disapear fast so am guessing its not steam ither ... any help would make my day because a number and coffies and ciggeretes i just cant seem to figure out what is wrong thanks in advance (monkey mechanic) well iive found the oil feed its underneath i didnt relise its oil and water colled (i no nothing about turbos or deiseld for that matter) so can i snip the hose from the crankcase and shuv a wine bottle cork in there and clamp it up ?? ill wait 4 answeres b4 i do this haha To cut a long story short i am taking the van camping at xmas i would prefer it not smoking im prepared to wreck what ever to do this as far as im concearned it can go to the dump after xmas as its deregerstered anyway as of the 10th of this month (poor solo father +student)

Jedi Outcast vs. Jedi Academy ... why are the physics in the game so different? I loved the way the characters moved and looked as well as the saber battles looked in Jedi Outcast. Does anyone know why in Jedi Academy the characters, movement, and battles look so stiff? It is like the designers of Academy went back a step and used an older rendering tool and physics engine. in 3d computer Graphics what is the importance of a wire mesh ? What do Libraries like Directx and OpenGL do? As I understand it, to view a structure in 3d, one defines it in terms of polygons and to view it in 3d one gets a 2d projection of the individual polygons rotated according to the given angle in space. If this is the case...what is the role of Directx and OpenGL? I have heard that they provide the primitives to draw, like sphere, cube, polygons etc. So does directx help in rendering the prmitives in 3d? And is one of the jobs of a graphics games engine programmer to use the libraries and provide for the rendering of wire meshes etc? What else does a graphics game engine do? I am very new to the subject so please answer it in an easy to understand way. Also does directx have facilities for handling lighting and texturing and can you tell me a little more about it?

question about how 3d models work? Lets just say you create a model of a frog, and export that as a .dae file, then implement that 3d model in some sort of 3d engine, when the 3d model is rendered does any type of animation (lets say of the frog jumping up in down) created in that 3d modeling program implemented during the runtime execution of the program that the .dae file was imported into code wise? or is animation only capable with in the 3d engine? or does it all really depend on the 3d engine you are using?

Alero problem please help? 2000 Alero V6 intermittenly decelerates while driving forcing me to pull to the side of the road. When I try to give it gas it will not accelerate but the car does not stall. If I shut the engine off and immediately start it again, sometimes it starts running fine again and sometimes it will not start at all. If I wait a little bit before I turn on the engine again it almost always runs as normal. This problem usually occurs when driving continuously for 30 minutes or more. At first, I though it could be the battery and charging system. But all electric works fine and lights do not dim when problem is occuring. No warning lights come up and has happened with multiple tanks of gas. If it is a fuel system problem, could an old Fuel filter render the car powerless?, or does anyone think it is more likely the fuel pump or fuel regulator. Any help is greatly appreiciated. Thanks bobweb, I do have a code reader that hooks up to a laptop and I am getting no error codes. Although I am not running the diagnostics as I am driving. Also I did not expect to get an error code because the SES light is not on and does not come on during malfunction.

Help! I have a spyware issue...? I contracted a spyware online that takes over my computer. I now get popups and scrolling pop-ups for a product "ANTISPYWARE SOLDIER." It changes my homepage, takes over yahoo's search engine and renders it useless by not letting me do anything outside of clicking on their pop-up ad. I have used windows "system restore." - It helps the problem for a day-or-so. I've run "Windows Defender" and Lavasoft "Ad-Aware" in no particular order. - Little if any results.
