Mozilla firefox - what else do I need to install please for safety and security?

Hello i have just installed mozilla firefox as i just couldnt view anything in my ebay account or messages or anything whilst using avg8 and also had spybot and zone alarm but now just have mozilla firefox installed and it seems to have done the trick BUT do i need to have anything else installed alongside this mozilla to ensure security etc??? Please dont answer all techie as i am rubbish!!! Much appreciated!

2. I run this with firefox http://noscript.net/ A lot of things come in through java/activex. This basically does not allow javascript to run unless you allow it. Once you allow a site it will remember that, just allow sites you trust. You should always be running antivirus though.

I think you've got the basics covered; sometimes the Adblock plugin can make Firefox run a little slow so watch out for that; Noscript can be extremely interventionist for the novice so see how you go if you use it. Zonealarm, AVG and Spybot work well together - it's a balance between adequate security and not bogging your system down. Keep windows up to date, don't open emails with attachments unless you are sure of the source (!) and even then it can be risky. If you stay away from dodgy sites (AVG includes linkscanner) and don't download from torrents you will be reasonably safe. You could add Spywareblaster for added security; it's not a scanner but rather acts in the background protecting you whilst online; just update and enable protection for IE and Firefox; free here (it works very well alongside Spybot) http://www.filehippo.com/download_spywareblaster/ UPDATE: I'm sorry I re-read your question - it seems you've got rid of everything apart from Firefox?? That's a very bad idea. You need a firewall even if it is Windows Firewall and Antivirus (use Avast if you don't like AVG) especially if you have a direct connection to the internet.
4. Not exactly sure what you mean by just having Mozilla Firefox installed. Hopefully you did not remove Microsoft Internet Explorer because that is needed in order to get critical updates from Microsoft and without it your whole computer's security is at risk. So if you removed it you need to reinstall it. You still do most of your web browsing on Firefox because it is safer but you need to keep Internet Explorer for updates. 5. Try this, its a free site advisor. Lets you know if the website you are about to visit is safe and and if its not; http://www.siteadvisor.com/download/ie.html Don't use the internet without some kind of anti-virus program. Instead of AVG [which is not very good anyway] try Avira. Its free and much better.
