- My best advice is to switch to IE7. Why?: 1. Loads up much more faster 2. Is more compatible with sites 3. Is much more safer than previous IE's, and some news sites even report it's more safer than Firefox, especially with Vista. 4. More built-in search options 5. better tabbing capabilities 6. With Windows Live toolbar (or any other toolbar) you can block pop-ups, and add your own customizable buttons from Windows Live Gallery. So just download the Windows Live toolbar, and pop-ups gotten rid of and taken down more efficientily and better. Plus there's tons of reasons why people should try IE7. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspx
- Firefox is crap. It is very overrated, used mostly by pimply-faced, male, adolescent, fanboys, who are badly in need of female compansionship.. People of their ilk wouln't have a clue how to properly secure any browser. Read the truth--Firefox Myths: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html A real man uses Internet Explorer. Women too! IE 7 is here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx
- Stick with firefox 1. it is much safer then IE 2. better tabbing abilities (you can download extensions like NoScript and IE Tab which make firefox better) 3. better pop up block and not susceptible to spyware and adware unlike IE 4. we all had IE once and I got fed up with it and moved to firefox never switching back 5. great search options, you can add sites like i have added torrentspy, deviantart, and wikipedia, and ebay 6. dont have to download some stupid windows toolbar and get spyware 7. tons of reasons why so many people switch from IE to firefox
- Firefox doesn't tell you how many popup's it has blocked, but it does let you know when a site you haven't told it to block popups at tries to open a popup. You will see a yellow bar asking you what you want to do about the popup right under your toolbars. In my mind, at least, the number of popups blocked is far less important than having the browser block them in the way you specify. You can make changes to that under Tools, then Options; you'll find the settings on the Content tab. And no, Firefox isn't used mostly by pimply-faced adolescents; it's used by a lot of people who realize that the majority of viruses and spyware are targeted at IE because the majority of PC users have IE. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of ISPs out there who don't seem to realize there are browsers other than IE and Safari (for MacIntoshes) whose users would like a little real help now and again... I work doing tech support for one of those high speed ISPs, and we see people all across the board running Firefox by preference even though my company doesn't really support it much either.
